Keira Christina Knightly was born in Teddington London to parents Sharman Macdonald, who is a scottish actress and Will Knightly who is an english theatre and television actor. She has one older brother Caleb Knightly who was born in 1979.

Keira grew up most of her life in Richmond, and she attended Teddington School and Esher College.

Her first starring role was in the UK and USA smash film Bend it Like Beckham. This film raised her profile so much that she was cast in the blockbuster movie Pirates of the Caribbean along side Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom which went on to become one of the most successful films of 2003.

Since Pirates of the Caribbean, her career has flourished with major fim roles in Love Actually, Domino, Pride and Prejudice and also her biggest accomplishment to date - Pirates of the Caribben, Dead Mans Chest. She has recently finished filiming some new films including The edge of love which will be released in 2008.

Keira has also won a massive army of male fans and has gained her some awards in men's magazine's FHM and Maxim where she won the 5th sexiest woman in the world award from FHM in 2006 and also 10th sexiest woman in the world award from Maxim in 2006.
